Ancestral Puebloan Indian Sites (Ansazi): Blanding is rich in Indian history (Ansazi, Ute, and Navjo).  You will be fascinated how this ancient culture lived hundreds of years ago.  You may want to take  a guided private tour to dwellings that are on private land or you may want to visit the many surrounding dwellings on your own time that are on public land.  Please remember to respect the land and to leave any artifacts that you may find.  It is the law to not disturb any Indian artifact.  Blanding is known for the many abundant Anasazi dwellings sites that were inhabited by this culture at least 800 years ago.  You will find this culture fascinating as you learn how they lived  and survived in this area.  Three dwellings can be seen right from the ranch.  We recommend that you take a private tour given by the Abajo Haven Guest Ranch to view dwellings on privately owned land (this tour is provided with your cabin rental). There are many other dwellings that can be viewed on your own time on BLM land and National Forest lands that are nearby the ranch.
